Film Screening: Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron (2023)
A heartfelt film night honoring our incredible volunteers and their contributions to the CATS community.
Each year, the Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS) hosts a special film screening to express our gratitude to the volunteers who make our work possible. This year, we are thrilled to present The Boy and the Heron, the latest masterpiece from legendary filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, as part of our annual CATS Volunteer Film Screening event.
A breathtaking tale of loss, self-discovery, and magical encounters, The Boy and the Heron (2023) follows young Mahito, who, after experiencing a profound tragedy, is drawn into a mysterious world guided by a cryptic heron. Rich in stunning animation and layered storytelling, Miyazaki’s latest film is a poignant exploration of grief, hope, and the power of imagination.
Our volunteers are the heart of CATS, dedicating their time and passion to uplifting AAPI voices in the arts. This annual screening is our way of saying thank you—a moment to come together, celebrate our shared achievements, and enjoy a film that inspires creativity and wonder.
We look forward to sharing this evening of appreciation, film, and community with all of you.
