On May 31, 2025, San Jose’s Japantown commemorated 135 years with a special performance of Japantown: Returnings, an original play that delved into the rich tapestry of the community’s history. Held at Wesley United Methodist Church, the production offered attendees a poignant journey through the neighborhood’s past, highlighting stories of resilience, cultural heritage, and the enduring spirit of its residents.
